Affiliate Program Basics
This article provides you with affiliate program basics. Upon completing this article, you'll have a better understanding of multi level marketing affiliate programs.
What is an affiliate program?
Simply put, an affiliate program is a partnership between a merchant and you. In reality, it's more like a business arrangement than a program. Affiliate programs are a way for you to monetize your traffic. Most affiliate programs are free to join.
Affiliate programs are increasing in popularity. They're an easy way for businesses to increase traffic and for website owners (such as yourself) to make money. You strategically place a link on your website to the merchant's site, and then whenever one of your visitors buys something, you get paid.
How do affiliate programs pay you?
The next affiliate program basic that we'll discuss is how you'll get paid. There are three different ways that you can earn money through multi level marketing affiliate programs.
Pay per Click - In this case, you are paid whenever a visitor links to the merchant’s site through yours. The most popular of this type of program is [Google Adwords].
Pay per Sale - This payment method is self explanatory. The merchant will pay you whenever a visitor from your site buys something from them.
Pay per Lead - You are paid whenever a visitor from your site gives information (e.g. name and email address) to the merchant.
What type of affiliate program should you choose?
You want to choose multi level marketing affiliate programs that relate to your website's content. Why? That's simple. Your visitors will only click if the product is something that interests them. You won't make any money if your visitors don't click.
For example, if your site is about running shoes you'll probably have a hard time selling computer software. Find affiliate programs that relate to your site and then promote them.
Before you choose an affiliate program, you should review their compensation plan. How much do they pay and in what method? Make sure that it sounds fair to you. Also, you want to make sure that the affiliate program has a way to track traffic you are sending to them and your commissions.
What is the difference between a two-tier affiliate and a sub affiliate?
The final section of our affiliate program basics article will cover two-tier and sub affiliates. Do you know the difference?
A two tier affiliate program is an affiliate program which allows you to sign up sub affiliates. So, you are tier 1, and your sub affiliate is tier 2. You will earn commissions from your own sales as well as the sales of your sub affiliates.
