Some things you should know before choosing a network marketing company.

Choosing a network marketing company has the potential for disaster if you don’t know what to look for. The network marketing opportunity that you choose is the first step towards your success. It won’t matter how much hard work you put into your business if you choose a poor quality company.

You have many network marketing business ideas to consider. Please understand that the network marketing company you choose is the foundation of your business. A house built on a faulty foundation is weak. The same thing is true with a business. Make sense?

When choosing a network marketing company, you will need to research and ask questions about:

* The product/service

* The company

* Compensation

The product/service

What product/service does the network marketing opportunity have to offer? If there is no product/service being sold, use caution. Pyramid schemes often do not have products/services available, and you don’t want to get roped into one of them.

There are two different things to consider when evaluating the product/service:

* Quality/Usability

* Demand in Marketplace

Quality/Usability

Would you use the product/service? Would you recommend the product/service to your friends and family? If you answered no to those questions, then you should not proceed with the business opportunity.

It will be very difficult to promote a product/service that you wouldn’t use yourself. Some network marketing companies make it mandatory that you purchase your own monthly supply. You better make sure you like it or else you'll get stuck with a large inventory that you will never use.

Also, you want to sell a product/service that is used regularly so that your customers keep coming back for more. A repeat sale for a job done once is called residual income. Click here to read more about residual income

Before choosing a network marketing company you will also want to evaluate the quality of the product/service. You don’t want to sell something that will bring you a lot of complaints.

Do your research to see if the company offers any kind of guarantee on the product/service in the event that you have unhappy customers.

Demand in Marketplace

You want to make sure that the company is offering a unique product/service at a fair price. You will have trouble selling a product/service that your customer can find at a retail store for a lesser price.

This is your business, so you want to make sure that you will have longevity in the marketplace. If you join a company with a "fad" type product, you won't make money for long. So look for something that will bring you years of revenue.

You need to consider who will use your product. Baby boomers are retiring at a rate of one every 8 seconds for the next 24 years. They are stable and have money. Baby boomers account for 60% of the currencies in the world.

When choosing a network marketing company, you must keep the baby boomers in mind. Is it a product/service that they will use regularly?

The Company

When choosing a network marketing company, you want to make sure they are stable. Some questions that you may want to ask about the company are:

* How long has the company been in business?

Knowing how long the company has been in business can help you decide if the company is stable. If a company is new, you have no clue about their stability.

Not to say that they won't last for a while, but you will have greater risk by starting your business with a newer company. A rule of thumb is that if the business has been around for at least 5 years, they are fairly stable.

* Who does the company do business with? Are they reputable companies?

Why would you want to know what companies they do business with? Well, that can say a lot about their stability. Network marketing companies that do business with reputable, well-known companies are a safe bet.

A reputable company is not going to risk their reputation by doing business with a company that is unethical. They want to align themselves with a company that is profitable and has longevity.

* Do they have a main office?

Another thing to consider when choosing a network marketing company is if they have a main office or not. No main office, keep looking. The company you choose should have a real home office with employees.

* Who are the founders and why did they start their business?

You need to research the founders. What are their reasons for starting the company? What are their backgrounds? The answers to these questions will help you decide if the company is ethical.

* How much does it cost to join?

The cost to join is something else to consider when choosing a network marketing company. You should look for a company with low start up costs and plenty of free product/service training.

Network marketing start up costs are generally low. If the company is asking for enormous start up and training costs, you should reconsider.

Listen, there are two reasons why you shouldn't join a network marketing company with large start up costs. One, it's hard for you to recruit others to your team. And two, it's possibly a scam looking to take your money and run.

* How does the company make profit?

Finally, if the company you are considering earns more revenue from recruiting than it does from actual product/service sales, then they are focusing on the wrong things. The company should focus on product/service sales.

If the company is making more money from recruiting than from product/service sales, then most likely it's a scam.

The Compensation

You are thinking "Show me the Money!” Before choosing a network marketing company, you should take a look at the compensation plan the company offers. Some questions you may want to ask about compensation are:

* Is it easy to understand?

* Do you have a quota to meet before you make commission?

* Can you start making money right away?

* Do you make money off of recruiting and product sales?

Choosing a network marketing company with a confusing compensation plan is trouble. You need to understand the compensation plan so that you are able to communicate it to others. Confusing compensation plans may spell fraud!

You probably also want to stay way from companies that have quotas you have to meet before you start making money. With a quality network marketing company, you should make money right away.

If the company is requiring that you sell large quantities of product or recruit a certain number of reps before you make any money, you will want to reconsider.

This leads to the final point: If you will only make money by recruiting of others, and not from your product sales, you should not join the company. When a company focuses more on recruiting than it does on product sales, there is a high probability that it's a pyramid scheme.
