Why is there so much multi level marketing criticism? Do you think that all MLM's are a bad thing?
You find multi level marketing criticism everywhere. But that doesn't mean that MLM is a bad thing.
Multi level marketing (network marketing) suffers a great deal of criticism. Automatically you think, "It's one of those things." And it's not like that at all.
What confuses most people is they think multi level marketing is a
scam
MLM is a legitimate business opportunity and is not a scam.
Multi level marketing criticism comes from a past of
pyramid schemes
using network marketing techniques. But can you honestly give an entire industry a bad name because of what a few schemes have done?
Just because there are a few bad apples doesn't mean the entire tree is rotten.
The other reason MLM has a bad reputation is because of its outdated techniques.
MLM has a reputation of pushy door-to-door sales people and pressuring friends to host or attend parties. This interpretation comes from network marketers approaching those who have no interest in them or their product.
Now, in the past the techniques used for network marketing were the best available at that time. Without the internet, it was necessary to put your face in front of as many people as possible.
Network marketers have been taught to treat everyone as a prospect. That is like a doctor coming up to you and telling you he has half price on knee surgery today and would you like one. Would that work?
Just as a doctor doesn't have to chase after patients,
you don't have to chase after prospects.
With these techniques it is easy to understand why multi level marketing criticisms exist. But what if you did not have to do it like back in the old days?
Think about it this way. Wouldn't it be silly if you walked into your local newspaper office, and they were all using typewriters? Mind you it is the year 2008. Kinda weird to picture that, isn't it?
Since technology has advanced, you would think they would have computers, right? Do you see where I'm going with this?
It is the same thing with network marketing. Times have changed, and so has the technology. The reason 97% of people quit network marketing, is because they are still using typewriters.
So when you combine prehistoric techniques and people you have to chase to sell, it is a recipe for disaster. This is why there is multi level marketing criticism.
The lack of marketing knowledge in multi level marketing leads to much criticism as well.
With the internet, it makes it possible for people to come to you. The key is knowing how to put your business in a position for people to see, otherwise known as marketing.
The multi level marketing industry is rapidly growing. The flexibility and financial freedom that it offers makes it very attractive. Especially to mothers, students, and people who are fed up with their current job situation.
In order for you and your business to succeed you must educate yourself on marketing. Without a marketing education, you will believe all the multi level marketing criticism.
There are many more advantages than disadvantages to network marketing. But you have a lot of "haters" that want to stand in your way. The key is to find what motivates you. And if you truly want financial freedom, then nothing will stand in your way.
And a quote I love to end with comes from Scrooge McDuck on the old cartoon Ducktales. "Work smarter, not harder."
