Secrets to writing articles
for your website

Writing articles isn't difficult. You should include many, many articles on your website. Of course you can link to others' articles, but it is always better to distinguish yourself from your competitors by writing your own.

This page will speak generally about article writing information, but if you'd like to learn about specific article writing such as Ezine Articles or [Keyword Focused Articles], click on the corresponding links.

Believe it or not, your visitors want to hear what you have to say. Otherwise they wouldn’t have visited your site.

So give them what they came for- your own unique voice. Having a unique voice will keep your visitors coming back for more.

And the more you have for them to read, the longer they will stay on your site. But you must have quality content to keep your readers interested. Your website is only as good as the articles it contains.

Writing articles is a way to promote yourself to your visitors. Your visitors will know you through your writing, so make sure you are yourself.

Before writing articles, you need to find your angle. For any given subject, there are many different angles you can choose to write from. Choose one that you find interesting and then write!

In your writing you should pose as an expert, but stay humble. If you sound narcissistic you may turn your readers away.

Your articles should not sound academic, unless of course your readers warrant it. Your writing should sound professional though.

Most people don’t want to read articles that they don’t understand. Just write exactly how you would speak to them if they were standing in front of you.

Make sure you are writing articles that are easy to read. Be concise and straight to the point. Don't make the mistake of dragging on and on about a particular point. For more article writing mistakes, click here.

Also, write your articles in the active, not passive, tense. And make sure not to have too many "be's" in your writing. You know "should be", "would be", "could be", "Will be". Click here for more article writing tips.

Your articles should allow your visitor to trust you. If your reader trusts you, they will take your recommendations and purchase the products that you recommend. Your articles should "pre-sell" your visitors.

When giving reviews on products or books, you should make sure to remain as neutral as possible. You want to provide your readers with the pro's and cons. Speak truthfully if you want them to remain a customer for life.

Next, when writing articles for your website, you want to have short paragraphs. Maybe just a line or two.

Some find it difficult to read on a computer screen. Your article will fare better with readers if it is easily scan able and has lots of white space.

And finally, don’t use "!" a lot in your writing. Its ok for you to use it here and there, but you shouldn’t flood your articles with it. Save it for special instances when you want to grab your reader’s attention only.

In short, when writing articles for your website you want to: sound professional, allow your reader to trust you and pre-sell them, speak honestly and in a unique voice, write concisely and in the active tense, and make sure to leave plenty of white space.

Hope you find this article writing information useful!
